Hopkins is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and has taught at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Pilchuck Glass School. He has exhibited at the Farnsworth Art Museum, Portland Museum of Art, Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Waterfall Arts Center, University of Maine Museum of Art, and a number of galleries nationally. One of the most well known painters in Maine, Hopkins studied glass blowing and remains an active glass artist. These six images are part of a larger group of rarely seen oil on gesso on newspaper paintings are studies for blown glass sculpture Hopkins made during the mid-1980s.
